YouGov – AJP Action poll shows MAGA overwhelmingly wants political leaders to prioritize domestic issues over foreign wars, with 1 in 5 more likely to support candidates who seek to end support for Israel

AJP Action just released a groundbreaking new poll of President Donald Trump’s MAGA base, which shows that over half of MAGA supports conditioning aid to Israel, and 1 in 5 support “Block the Bombs” legislation to halt weapons to Israel immediately. 

Amid a war of aggression being waged on Iran on behalf of the Israeli regime, this poll shows fissures among MAGA Republicans and an identity crisis among Trump’s base when it comes to putting Americans first over foreign governments: 

• 56% of MAGA supporters support conditions on aid to Israel, and when it comes to foreign aid generally, 70% believe the U.S. should prioritize domestic needs.
• 90% of MAGA are more likely to support a candidate who prioritizes domestic issues over aid to other countries.
• Less than half of MAGA strongly support the war with Iran, 11% oppose it.
• 1 in 5 MAGA Republicans support “Block the Bombs” legislation to stop offensive weapons from being sent to Israel. The same proportion is more likely to support a candidate who wants to end U.S. support for Israel entirely.
• 23% of MAGA believe military assistance to allies at war, like Israel and Ukraine, has gone too far.
• 55% of MAGA hold Christian nationalist views, like those who led the Jan. 6 insurrection.
• When exposed to Congressional spending on Israel alongside cuts to benefits for 22 million Americans, MAGA are significantly less likely to vote for pro-Israel Republicans (+18%). When told Congress continues to fund Israel despite documented war crimes and genocide, MAGA are less likely to vote Republican at all (+8%).

Many people have been asking if MAGA has shifted toward critical views of Israel due to some shifts among right-wing influencers,” said Dr. Osama Abu Irshaid, Executive Director of AJP Action. “This is the first poll to answer those questions — and we’re not surprised to see MAGA, too, is becoming tired of the pro-Israel lobby’s influence and the lack of priority for Americans’ needs here at home.”

The poll randomly sampled 1000 MAGA Republicans and ran from March 12 to March 18, 2026. The results comprehensively capture MAGA views on Israel and Palestine, the war in Iran, Christian Zionism and nationalism, Jeffrey Epstein, key conservative leaders, and a range of domestic issues. Commissioned by AJP Action, the poll was drafted by an independent research group, Underpin LLC, and conducted with YouGov’s Scientific Research Group – a firm that sets the standard for rigor and reliable data.
